TIME PERIOD:

TUESDAY 3 – 7 PM (MAINLY 4 - 6PM)

A TRICKY SET-UP IS UNFOLDING THIS AFTERNOON. CURRENTLY THERE ARE SHOWERS / STORMS THAT ARE PASSING JUST NORTH IN NORTH NJ, BUT SHOULD STEER CLEAR OF MAJORITY OF THE AREA (SOUTHERN EDGE MAY CLIP EXTREME NORTHERN MIDDLESEX COUNTY). AS WE CONTINUE TO WARM INTO THE 90S

(HEAT INDICES IN THE MID-UPPER 90S), A COLD FRONT WILL RESULT IN ORGANIZED AND STRONG THUNDERSTORMS TO MOVE THROUGH IN THE AFTERNOON. THE THREAT FOR SEVERE WINDS OF 50 – 70MPH WILL BE BETWEEN 3 – 7 PM (MAIN 4 – 6 PM), WHEN AROUND 1 HOUR OF STORMINESS MOVES THROUGH.

THERE IS A GOOD THREAT FOR STRONG TO BORDERLINE SEVERE WINDS, WITH THE POTENTIAL FOR DOWNED TREES AND POWERLINES. BRIEF DOWNPOURS WILL ALSO ACCOMPANY STORMS, THOUGH ONLY MINOR ROADWAY FLOODING IS LIKELY TO OCCUR.
