MILLTOWN, NJ - The United States celebrates birthday number 242 tomorrow and the borough has a full menu of Fourth of July festivities planned for Wednesday, beginning at Mill Pond at 6 a.m. with the annual Fishing Derby.
Residents should expect traffic delays in the morning due to the Milltown Firecracker 5K, which kicks off at 8:10 a.m. on Violet Terrace. The Fun Run begins at 7:45 a.m.
Traffic will again be impacted by the Fourth of July Parade, which is set to start at 10 a.m. at VanLiew Avenue. The parade proceeds from VanLiew Avenue to Main Street. It will continue down Main Street before turning left on Lincoln Avenue and left on JFK Boulevard. The parade ends at Gloria Bradford (Borough) Park.
Vehicles will not be allowed to park on either side of Violet Terrace from 7 a.m. on July 4 until after the evening's fireworks conclude. The Milltown Police Department estimates parking on Violet Terrace will resume at 12 a.m. on July 5. Parking restrictions will also be in place on parts of Bruce Court with signs being placed to alert residents.
Residents should expect traffic delays related to the evening's fireworks at Gloria Bradford (Borough) Park as well. Fireworks are set to begin at dusk on July 4.
The Fun Run and Firecracker 5K will be held rain or shine. Rain date for the parade and fireworks is July 7.
