EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ - The East Brunswick Fire Department responded to two calls Thursday morning, according to Breaking News Network.

The FAST Team from North Brunswick has been providing assistance to the EBFD with a fire at the Spice Chain warehouse on Elkins Road off Tices Lane. A firefighter assist and search team (FAST), also known as a rapid intervention team/crew/dispatch (RIT/RIC/RID), is a team of two or more firefighters dedicated solely to the search and rescue of other firefighters in distress. FAST shall have no other operational assignment during an incident, says Wikipedia.

The fire at Spice Chain was caused by sparks from the machine that processes cinnamon into powder.  Large pieces of cinnamon got caught in the processor and caused sparks to fly.  There were only minor injuries reported by Spice Chain personnel.

Additionally, East Brunswick firefighters were battling a blaze at 21 Morgan Place that involved a garbage truck and a residence.  The Utilities and Building Departments reported to the scene for support and evaluation. The driver of the garbage truck was transported by EMS after the truck ran over his foot.
