MONMOUTH JUNCTION, NJ - The first day of fall is September 23, but Von Thun Farms in South Brunswick Township opens up for its annual Fall Festival Weekends on Saturday, September 21. This year the six acre corn maze features a tribute to college football, showcasing the Garden State's Princeton University and Rutgers University. The two teams participated in the first-ever college football game back on 1869. This year college football is celebrating its 150th anniversary. Rutgers hosted the inaugural college football game and won 6-4. The game was re-enacted last month on August 16 to help celebrate the anniversary.
Visitors can experience the college-themed corn maze at Von Thun Farms beginning on Saturday, September 21. The popular corn maze also includes fun maze activites like the Corndundrum, Passports, Simon Says and Farm Scene Investigations. Corn maze lovers who enjoy a night time visit can check out the farms Moonlight Maze and campfire.
Most corn maze goers will get find their way out of the six plus acre maze in about 35 to 45 minutes. The afore mentioned Passports and Condundrums are designed to help keep visitors on the right path to discovering the exit. A walk through the popular corn maze is included in the admission fee for Von Thun's Fall Festival Weekends. Those interested in a weekday walk can stop by the farm Monday through Friday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets for a weekday walk are available at the farm's market.
Von Thun Farms is located at 519 Ridge Road. Ticket packages are availabe online for the farm's Fall Festival Weekends. Fall Festival Weekends run from September 21 through September 22. A whole host of family-friendly activities are on tap as well as apple and pumpkin picking.
