NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ – The wife of convicted former Edison police officer Michael Dotro will take part in a Pre-Trial Intervention program that could, eventually, dismiss charges against her if she successfully completes the program, Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey said in a press release Tuesday.

Alycia Dotro, 42, of Manalapan was indicted this year in two separate cases dealing with her husband, Michael Dotro, 40.

Michael pleaded guilty to attempted murder and arson, amid other charges in other cases, yesterday for trying to burn down the home of a supervising officer who lived in Monroe in May 2013.

The former Edison police officer admitted to throwing a Molotov Cocktail incendiary device at the home of his police captain as he and his family slept in their Monroe home during the early morning hours.

The captain and his family escaped the fire.

Under a plea agreement, Michael is set to face 20 years in prison for the crime when he is sentenced in December, according to the prosecutor’s office.

Alycia is charged with lying to investigators about her husband’s involvement regarding that incident as well as several charges relating to allegedly slashing the tires of a vehicle belonging to an Edison woman, police said.

She was charged with official misconduct in the second degree, conspiracy in the second degree and criminal mischief in that case, officials said.

According to the release, Superior Court Judge Pedro Jimenez admitted her into the Pre-Trial Intervention program, designed for first-time offenders, for two years under conditions set by prosecutors, the release said.

If she completes the program successfully, the charges could be dropped, officials said.

Alycia was indicted on all the charges by a Middlesex County grand jury after an extensive investigation by the Detective Bureau of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office led by Detective Donald Heck and Detective Christopher Pennisi, the release said.
