EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ  - In addition to numerous posts on local social media in East Brunswick, Spotswood, and South Brunswick, the Monroe Twp Police Department and the Ocean County Sheriff's Office received numerous calls from residents in reference to loud explosions and ground-shaking last night.

The MPD has advised that the Joint Military Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst has military units conducting artillery and mortar firing training at the base. "Residents should not be alarmed if they hear more noise than usual or experience ground shaking this weekend," says the Nixle release.

According to the "Noise Level Calendar" appearing on the Joint Base's website, residents may be aware of especially loud noise or other disturbances until Wednesday, October 21.
