East Brunswick Public Library Holds South Asian Community Day of Wellness

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ— On Saturday, March 3, Cancer Support Community Central NJ Jersey (CSCCNJ) will be hosting a Day of Wellness at the East Brunswick Public Library (2 Jean Walling Civic Center, ). This program is part of CSCCNJ’s South Asian outreach initiative, which is made possible by the Shri Krishna Nidhi (SKN) Foundation.

The Day of Wellness is being offered at no charge, and is open to the community, especially for those affected by their own cancer diagnosis, or the diagnosis or a loved one. The program is designed to empower attendees with the tools necessary to reduce stress and embrace a healthier lifestyle. Individuals will be able to participate in three sessions focused on stress reduction, nutrition and education:

Breathwork Yoga – This practices focuses on using the power of the breath to enhance the body and mind for spiritual healing and to reduce stress.

South Asian “Superfoods” – Learn the about the nutritional benefits of certain foods with cancer-fighting properties. There will be a demonstration complete with samples.

-Jalpa Sheth, Registered Dietitian and Nutritionist

Health Strategies Q&A – Hear about the simple steps that can be taken to help heal during treatment. A Question and Answer session will follow.

-Dr. Seeta Trivedi, medical oncologist at Regional Cancer Care Associates, Central Jersey Division and CSCCNJ Professional Advisory Board Member
