Torn Paper Collage Workshop

1-DAY WORKSHOP
INSTRUCTOR: KAT BLOCK

Learn collage techniques including interpreting their reference material into a format that can be executed in ripped paper collage. Techniques such as simplifying the details of the image, integrating various materials, layering small shapes over larger shapes and working from back plane to front plane will also be covered.

The instructor, Kat Block, graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in English Literature/Creative Writing. While deciding upon a graduate school program, she attended the Visual Art Center of New Jersey. She is an award winning collage artist drawing inspiration from nature and music. In 2018, her artwork has won 4 best in show awards. Her collages are intricately layered to show the patterns and light in each design. She is an expert in mixed media, teaching a Design class at duCret School of Art. In addition to creating and teaching, Kat is the published illustrator of a children’s book, and has designed posters for the Union County Jazz fests.
