Footloose tells the story of Ren McCormack, a teenager from Chicago who moves to a small western town where he lives with his mother, aunt, and uncle. Throughout the show, McCormack is seen attempting to overturn the ban on dancing, which resulted from the efforts of a local minister after his son was killed in an accident returning from a night of dancing. The musical features some of the more popular songs from the original film as well as new songs from the Broadway production.
Footloose is directed by Christian Carrara, Choreography by Raven Dunbar, and Music Direction by Marty Alen Angstreich.
Playhouse 22's production of Footloose is sponsored in part by the East Brunswick Arts Coalition, along with corporate sponsorship from Jane Mueller Re/Max, members of the East Brunswick Regional Chamber of Commerce, the Landis Group, Brunswick Square Mall, and Raritan Pharmaceuticals.
