EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ –With the bulk of the gas main and service replacement work completed in neighborhoods across East Brunswick crews are now focused on taking old gas mains out of service, PSE&G officials announced.
This work has been completed on Cleveland Ave., Harrison Ave., McKinley Ave., Dunham’s Corner Rd., Yates Dr., Burnham Rd., Orchard Ave., and Lakeview Ave. since September 17 and is slated to continue in the coming weeks for areas including Branco Pl., Ainsworth Ave., Hillsdale Rd., Dalston St., Devoes Ln., and 4th St.
While residents and travelers may experience temporary traffic diversions along these stretches, while workers excavate small holes to remove the now unused mains, local police officers will be on hand to direct vehicle and pedestrian traffic.
“We are grateful for the cooperation of East Brunswick’s residents while our work crews have made these upgrades as part of PSE&G’s five-year program to replace over 800 miles of aging gas infrastructure throughout New Jersey,” Vice President of Gas Operations for PSE&G Joe Forline said. “We are proud to be a part of this great community and know that the upgrades will improve reliability, reduce the possibility of leaks, and ensure the continued safety of gas service for our customers.”
Additional main installation and services work is still to be completed along stretches of Route 18. PSE&G will keep residents and drivers apprised on updates.
