EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ - The East Brunswick Police Department is once again taking on No-Shave November to raise money for cancer awareness. Started in 2009, the movement at no-shave.org encourages individuals, businesses and organizations to forgo shaving the entire month of November to grow their hair in honor of cancer patients, many of which lose their own hair during treatment.

The hope is to spark a conversation about cancer awareness from the beard, mustache, or goatee department members are allowed to grow until the end of the month.

Each officer who participates donates an initial $10 to the cause, with funds ultimately going to the American Cancer Society, the Prevent Cancer Foundation, the Fight Colorectal Cancer organization and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The department as a whole, under the team name East Brunswick Police Department, is looking to raise $2,500 this year.
