MILLTOWN, NJ -  During the shutdown, lots of people used the extra time at home to have a clear out. Nothing clutters up work spaces, file cabinets and drawers more than those piles of school papers, utility statements, credit card statements and other papers containing personal information people do not feel comfortable recycling or throwing away due to fear of identity theft. So, mark the calendar for Saturday, October 10 for the Middlesex County Residential Paper Shred at American Legion Post 25.

This event is sponsored by the Middlesex County Board of Chosen Freeholders. It is for Middlesex County residents only and is not open to local businesses. The paper shred will run from 9 a.m. until noon or until the truck fills up. It will be held rain or shine in parking lot four.

Residents are limited to five file boxes or 100 pounds per car load. Paper should be brought in a manageable container, not plastic bags. It is not necessary to remove paper clips, staples or binder covers. However, participants should not bring hardcover books, photographs, magazines, bulk mail, newspapers, x-rays or CDs.

American Legion Post 25 is located on 4 JF Kennedy Drive.
