EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ - Local residents, parents, and students received the following message from Superintendent Dr. Victor Valeski this afternoon:

"Late this afternoon, the Lt. Governor held a Coronavirus press conference and revealed there were two new positive Coronavirus cases in Middlesex County. It has been verified that one of those cases is a “confirmed positive” East Brunswick resident.

I am immediately closing all schools through Sunday, March 15th. Additionally, all field trips, building activities, rentals, performances, and athletics are cancelled.

Thursday, March 12th and Friday, March 13th are designated as emergency closing days, as provided on our district calendar. I will continue to assess emerging conditions and will decide by late Sunday if we should remain closed through next week or longer.

I understand the hardship that closing schools on such short notice places on our families. As always, the safety of our students and staff is our top priority. We will continue to thoroughly clean and disinfect all district facilities and school buses.

I will update the community by Sunday evening, March 15th, with next steps.

Seek immediate medical attention if you or a member of your family exhibit symptoms associated with Coronavirus – fever, cough, shortness of breath.

Please continue to visit the district website for ongoing updates.
