SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ - Irvin Raphael Inc., a school bus service located in East Brunswick, has filed a civil action lawsuit against the South Brunswick Board of Education for breach of contract by failing to pay them for the remainder of the academic school year. The lawsuit claims the company has not received payments for April, May, June and the second half of March.

The lawsuit states that the Board of Education has not met the standards set forth by the state legislature on April 14th, 2020. The state passed a mandate requiring school districts to make all payments outlined in their contracts as if schools remained open. Irving Raphael Inc. is demanding the remaining $118,358 that they were contractually obligated to receive. The company is also demanding a trial by jury on all counts, according to the lawsuit.

On June 10th, 2020, the South Brunswick Board of Education placed four separate bids for Irvin Raphael Inc. services, including bussing for special education and vocational schools, according to an approved agenda from the board on July 23rd, 2020.
