EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ - As of 7:00 pm, there has been no additional information released regarding a child who fell through the ice while playing with two friends on the Municipal Pond around 5:00 this afternoon.
Several emergency rescuers went into the pond to rescue the child. The pond is located near the Municipal Building and the East Brunswick Police Station. Residents report that helicopters were above the scene as the New Jersey State Police monitored the situation.
However, there have been no confirmed reports of the State Police Dive Team responding to the event. Helicopters could have be from news outlets or crisis response centers as well.
The child was taken to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in an unknown condition. The East Brunswick Police Department has not released any additional information at this time regarding the status of the child. Sources report that two first responders were also injured when performing the rescue.
