Upon arrival the box truck was found to contain flammable liquids and had compromised the utility poles and high-tension wires. Due to this our members had to wait for the swift response of PSEG to kill the power before fire suppression efforts could begin.

Middlesex County Hazmat also responded and contained the fuel and flammable liquid spills from entering storm drains. Thank you to the East Brunswick Police Department for blocking traffic and ensuring our scenes are safe for all of us to operate and Robert Wood Johnson Paramedic Unit for providing rehab to all on scene."

In a warning from the South River Police Department, motorists were advised to avoid Old Bridge Turnpike and Route 18 in the areas of Tices Lane and Edgeboro Road due to fire department activity in East Brunswick.

Multiple road closures were in place and heavy traffic delays occurred in the area.
