MONROE, NJ -- The East Brunswick football team hung on for a 20-14 victory over Monroe Friday night to give new head coach Andy Steinfeld the first win of his career.
Junior quarterback Zach Zebro ran for one touchdown and passed for another to Noriano Smith. Austin Percy also rushed for a TD for the Bears (1-1) and came up with a big defensive play in the secondary late in the game.
East Brunswick held of a late Monroe drive, as the Falcons marched from deep in their own territory all the way down to the Bears' 10-yard line. But East Brunswick held.
Next for the Bears comes a big challenge: On the road against high-powered South Brunswick next Friday night.
