EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ -- The East Brunswick football team built a 33-point halftime lead and cruised to a 40-0 victory over J.P. Stevens Friday night.
Quarterback Zach Zebro scored two touchdowns, rushing for 39 yards on five carries and completing his only pass of the night for 65 yards to Devin Kennedy.
Nori Smith finished with 67 yards and a TD on eight carries, Austin Percy was six for 52 on the ground with a TD, and Derrick Davis and Anthony Sciangula each rushed for a TD for the Bears (2-3).
East Brunswick also held J.P. Stevens to a total of 42 yards from scrimmage with a defense led by Sean Ring, Yousef Gamel, Christian Richards and Carlos Tapia.
"Our offense was able to spread the wealth rushing because of the play of our offensive line. They were able to control the line of scrimmage," said East Brunswick head coach Andy Steinfeld.
"I am very happy how we came back this week after two bad losses," Steinfeld said. "The players worked hard all week at practice. I told team in pre-game that we need to do whatever takes tonight to win. They stepped up to the challenge. I'm very happy for these kids and proud of them for their effort at the game and all week at practice.
"A job well done by all."
The Bears travel to New Brunswick for their next game Friday night.
