EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ -- The East Brunswick girls basketball team pulled away in the third quarter and went on to a 52-40 victort over South Plainfield on Saturday.

Brianna Sliwinski scored 21 points for the Bears (1-0), whose 16-3 spurt in the third quarter gave them a 43-30 lead going into the fourth quarter.

Erin Cosio scored 10 points and Rebecca Perez finished with nine points for East Brunswick, which had a nine-point lead after one quarter before South Plainfield rallied with a 20-11 showing to tie the game by halftime.
