EDISON, NJ -- The East Brunswick girls basketball team rallied from one deficit to end the first half, but J.P. Stevens put together a big third quarter to come away with a 45-36 victory Thursday night.

The Bears (2-3) fell behind, 15-8, after one quarter. In the second quarter, Rebecca Perez scored six of her 11 points to spark East Brunswick to a 13-6 showing that enabled the Bears to tie the game, 21-21, at halftime.

Erin Cosio closed out the half with a 3-pointer from the left side with 12 seconds left to tie the game at 21.

J.P. Stevens (1-3) opened the second half with an 11-2 run to take a 32-23 lead. Brianna Sliwinski scored 12 of her game-high 16 points in the second half to help keep East Brunswick in the game, but the Bears got just three points from the rest of its players in the second half.
