LIVINGSTON, NJ — CycleBar Livingston is hosting a fundraising ride to benefit Chelsea
Gaynes, a young woman waiting for a double lung transplant, on Dec. 16 at 3:30 p.m. The cost to participate in the ride is $50.

Nearly 100 percent of proceeds will benefit Chelsea, as her family struggles to pay for her medical care.
Gaynes suffers from Lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM) a rare lung disease, which causes smooth muscle cells to grow uncontrollably and damage internal organs.

Darryl Price, a double lung transplant recipient, is organizing the ride. He credits frequent classes at
CycleBar with improving his strength and with boosting his pulmonary function to more than 100 percent of expected capacity.

Price’s recovery after a life-threatening illness and transplant surgery has motivated him to help others like Gaynes, who are facing similar challenges. He met Gaynes and her relatives as he was completing post-transplant rehab and they were temporarily staying in the same short-term housing facility for transplant patients and their families.

Price has continued to provide support and encouragement to Gaynes and her mom, whom he said have become like family to him. With a heightened awareness of the crippling expenses related to transplantation, Price said he does not want them to have to “choose between medical care and the
electric bill."

CycleBar is a premium indoor-cycling franchise with a studio recently opening in the area at The Shoppes at Livingston Circle. Promoting philanthropy and community building are central to CycleBar’s mission.

Through the CycleGiving® program, each of the franchises located nationwide frequently donate the
studio and an instructor for groups of coworkers, families and friends to participate in charity events. Thousands of dollars and awareness are raised for national organizations and local causes without the upfront costs of a standard benefit event.
