EAST HANOVER, N.J.- Law enforcement authorities are investigating two armed robberies, announced Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp.
Both incidents occurred on January 10, 2019.
Police have stated that at approximately 12:13 a.m., officers were dispatched to the Exxon Gas Station, located on Route 10 East in East Hanover, on a report of an armed robbery. According to reports, the gas station clerk stated that while he was counting cash, a man entered the store carrying a handgun and demanded money. The clerk dropped the money on the ground, which was picked up by the man, said police. The man left the store with the cash and fled on foot.
Police are describing the assailant as a black male, thin build, approximately 20- to-25 years old, carrying a black handgun. According to the clerk, the man was wearing black pants, a black and white top, grey hoodie sweatshirt, gloves and a ski mask.
The second incident occurred at approximately 1:36 a.m. at the 7-11 store, located on South Salem Street in Randolph where police responded to a report of an armed robbery. According to reports, the store clerk was working at the counter when a man entered the store, showed a black handgun, and demanded money. After the clerk provided cash to the man, the man left the store with the cash and fled on foot, said police.
Police are describing the assailant in this incident as a black male, thin build, carrying a black handgun. He was wearing black pants with a white checkered pattern on the legs, a grey hoodie sweatshirt, black gloves, and a ski mask, said police.
Numerous law enforcement agencies are currently investigating this incident, including the East Hanover Police Department, the Randolph Police Department, the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office – Major Crimes Unit, and the Morris County Sheriff’s Office.
