EAST HANOVER, NJ- As of June 12, 2017, East Hanover’s Farmer’s Market came back to Lurker Park for its seventh year! This year two farms are participating, Alstede Farms from Chester and Beckage Farm from Pittstown. The farmer’s market is held every Monday from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. and will be going until October 23, 2017.
According to Linda Lurz, the Superintendent of Recreation in East Hanover, it started back in 2010 by the town’s administration. They saw that a lot of other towns were doing it so decided to give it a try to “see if there was an interest.”
Apparently, there was since it has continued to come back for the past seven years! And Beckage Farm and Alstede Farms has been a part of the farmer’s market from the beginning.
When going to the market, which is held right in the parking lot for Lurker Park, there will be two tents. The smaller tent is for Beckage Farm, but don’t let that fool you; they still have a great selection of fruits and veggies to choose from. You’ll also get a decent portion from them at a good price. Plus, the baked goods that they have are from Lancaster, PA. You can pay via cash or card. However, there is a $10 minimum in order to use your card.
The bigger tent will be for Alstede Farms; one of the most popular farms in Northern New Jersey. Of course, with the bigger tent means a lot more produce to choose from. They also have different syrups and honeys to choose from, as well as they’re baked goods, including their apple cider donuts. You can pay via cash or card. There is no minimum on the card.
Again, the farmer’s market goes from now until October 23. It’ll be every Monday from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Lurker Park in East Hanover. Enjoy!
