FLORHAM PARK, NJ- Florham Park has garnered many distinctions over the last several years. The borough can now add one more jewel to its crown of achievements with Florham Park selected as 43rd in backgroundchecks.org’s list of the 50 safest cities in the state.
With the crime rates normalized at 100,000 residents, New Jersey’s average violent crime rate is 261. In addition to this, the average instances of property crime is a whopping 1,734. These numbers pale vastly in comparison to Florham Park’s, whose violent crime rate is set at 42.3. Astoundingly, the rate of property crime is even more staggering in comparison to the norm where we see Florham Park come in at only .06%.
“I am very pleased to see that Florham Park is one of the 50 safest towns in New Jersey,” Mayor Mark Taylor said. “This did not come by accident. Florham Park has the best police department under the direction of Chief Robert Treiber. He continues to maintain and foster community awareness programs such as Neighborhood Watch and Community Policing. These are just two of the ways the police are so engaged with the town and its residents.”
This is not the first recognition that Florham Park has been given for their efforts in the recent years. Florham Park was named the number one town in New Jersey to live and raise a family by New Jersey Monthly Magazine back in 2015. This is largely due to the efforts made by Florham Park’s volunteers, police department, and government.
Mayor Taylor went on to call attention to all of these great men and women in Florham Park, saying, “This all stems from a great base of community leaders on our town council, our employees in the borough hall and DPW, all of our great volunteers on the Fire department, First Aid squad, our boards and commissions and our youth sports coach volunteers that help foster our children.”
