FLORHAM PARK, NJ- The Florham Park K-8 school district has many new and exciting initiatives. This year marks an even bigger push forward with the Reading and Writing Project with Teacher’s College. Teachers have spent the summer in professional development and writing curriculum to refocus instruction using these strategies. On September 6th from 7:45-9:00 AM supervisors will be in the Ridgedale Middle School auditorium to discuss the workshop model with parents. Parents are invited to stop by and see what your children will be doing this year.
The sixth grade students will be receiving Chromebooks. Their teachers have been working all summer long to develop the processes and procedures for the use of these Chromebooks. Florham Park’s technology initiative will take a big step forward over the next three years as each grade will have one computer per student.
The district is moving to a fully online registration process. Some of the information parents will be completing is the annual required information. This year, the process will be time consuming, however, it will get easier as time progresses. Parents can also expect to see paperless board meetings. Florham Park is committed to reducing the amount of paper that the district uses.
The teachers will be welcomed back on September 1st with several professional development courses and students will be walking through the doors on September 6th. Please see the our website for open house and back to school information.
The district welcomes some new faces this year. Briarwood will add Melissa Fox, Carmelina Napolitano, Jessica Gatti, Alyssa Hausmann, and ELA Supervisor Christy O’Connor to their team, while Brooklake welcomes Ashley Delaney. Meanwhile, Ridgedale is excited to claim the services of Michael Leone, Rebecca Fano, Devon Cosenza, and RJ Russo.
Dr. Varley as well as the administrative team, faculty and staff are excited to start this new year.
