Girls on the Run of New Jersey East Registration Now Open

FLORHAM PARK, N.J.- Girls on the Run of New Jersey East’s registration for the fall season is now open. Girls on the Run is a physical activity-based, positive youth development program that inspires girls in 3rd through 8th grade to be joyful, healthy, and confident. The volunteer-led program brings together groups of 8-20 girls for a ten-week program that encourages personal development, team building, and connection to the community.

Locally, the program will be offered at the Florham Park Elm Street Recreation Complex on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30-5:45PM and at East Hanover's Central Elementary School on Wednesdays from 3:10-4:25PM and Saturdays from 9:45-11AM. The end of season 5K is hosted by the Florham Park PBA and will be held at Holy Family Church on Saturday, November 18.

“This has been such a positive program for our young girls in establishing confidence, communication, and learning how to be a lifelong encourager, supporter, and friend in good times and in times of stress, “ says local elementary school principal, Dr. Jo. “Our girls are learning that what is right is not always popular. What a wonderful way to learn life lessons and get fit in the meantime!”

Girls on the Run New Jersey East has inspired girls throughout Essex, Morris, Union, Burlington, and Mercer Counties since 2000 and has impacted the lives of  more than 10,000 girls. This season, Girls on the Run will be offered at more than 60 school and park-based locations. Each team will meet two times a week for 75 minutes either before or after school and participate in research-based lessons that use dynamic discussions and fun running games to teach life skills. The season will culminate in a 5K event that brings together family, friends ,and community members to celebrate the girls’ growth throughout the season.

Girls on the Run New Jersey East is generously supported by presenting sponsor R. Seelaus & Company, Inc., a Summit, NJ-based financial services firm. The program fee for the fall season is $199, and financial assistance is available based on a sliding scale.
