EAST HANOVER, NJ- Hanover Park Chamber Singers and Atlantic City Crew put in show stopping performances at this year’s Hersheypark Music in the Parks Festival held on June 9th.

The Chamber Singers stole the show, winning the coveted Best Overall Choir award and a 1st Place Superior Rating in Jazz and Pop, as well as a 1st Place Excellent Rating in Classical. The Atlantic City Crew also had a strong showing in the Jazz and Pop category with a 2nd Place Excellent Rating. One Hanover Park student was celebrated individually as well. Senior Nina DaCosta was awarded the Outstanding Vocal Soloist Medal for her resplendent performance of Man in the Mirror.

Music in the Parks stylizes itself as “the best advocacy tool for your music program.” The festivals provide a year-end assessment by an outside panel for music programs and reinforces core musical skills. The festivals are also designed to help increase the visibility of music programs in the community with national level competition. Ensembles from all over the country participate in the events, some programs even traveling down from Canada to take part.

Hanover Park’s Music Department is alive and well and we look forward to more of the same from them in the year to come.
