EAST HANOVER, NJ- The Lady Hornets were challenged this past week and recorded an overtime victory over Bernards 47-40 and followed that up with a 52-39 win at Morristown Beard.

For only the second time all season Hanover Park trailed entering the 4th quarter, but used a 12-6 advantage to tie the score at 36-36 by the end of regulation. Hanover Park outscored Bernards 11 to 4 in the extra period and were led once again by Ava Gammo with 14 points, five assists and five rebounds. Megan Macaluso again controlled the boards with 16 rebounds and Alexa Bursese chipped in with nine points on three three-pointers. Morristown Beard only trailed by three at the half, but were outscored by ten in the second half as the Hornets won 52-39 to improve their season record to 13-1. Hanover Park had balance scoring as Gammo tallied 15 points followed 10 points from Kelsey Stites and Alexa Bursese. Hanover Park is looking forward to the upcoming MCT and are seeded third.

On January 25th the boys team honored Head Coach Hartman for his 200th win and played a thrilling high scoring contest against Morristown Beard. Although the final result was a 93-90 loss, the Hornets received an outstanding performance from senior Joey Jandoli who scored 43 points and pulled down seven rebounds.  Fellow senior Matt Winschuh chipped in 20 points. The Hornets made 10 three-pointers on the night, but the last second three by Morristown Beard's Ryan Russo ruined the night for Hanover Park. Their season record now stands at 10-5 and Hanover Park is seeded fifth in the upcoming MCT.

Hanover Park's Head Wrestling Coach, James Lavalle, has challenged this year’s squad with a demanding schedule. The Hornets currently ranked 10th in New Jersey have had dual matches against state ranked DBP, Queen of Peace, Cranford and Phillisburg. This past week Hanover Park defeated East Brunswick 42-24, Queen of Peace 33-32 and Parsippany 40-18. Their lone loss was at Rutgers against Cranford 36-28. The team has been led by Nick Raimo, Rory Deluca and Jake Bursese who earned four victories to help the Hornets go 3-1 in these past four matches. Hanover Park is currently ranked as the No .1 seed in Group 2.
