EAST HANOVER,N.J.- The top story from last weeks fall sports action was the first conference championship in school history by HP girls soccer, attained by an NJAC Liberty division win. They are this week's Precision Sports Performance Team of the Week.

The team accomplished this by defeating Mt. Lakes, 4-1 and earning a tie vs Madison 1-1 at home in action last week. Senior midfielder and captain, Gabby Barquin scored 3 goals  bringing her season total to 16 and 10 assists total . Barquin also is the all time goal scorer with 33.  The Lady Hornets are 12-5-3  for the season., allowing only 3 goals while scoring 28. Head Coach Erin Shane and the team are looking to continue there winning ways in the NJSIAA state tournaments games.  the goalkeeping duo of Natalie Santangelo and Sophia Reynolds has recorded 10 shutouts. Juniors Alyssa Viegas and Claire Cahill have both scored 6 goals this season as the team has a 8-0-1 record at home allowing only 3 goals. 

Today, Hailey Scaff and Claire Cahill scored a goal each to lead Hanover Park to a 2-1 victory over fifth-seeded West Essex in the quarterfinals of the North Jersey Section 2 Group 2 tournament at home.

Gabriella Barquin was credited with two assists and Natalie Santangelo recorded 14 saves in goal. 

Fourth-seeded Hanover Park will advance to the semifinals where they will face top-seeded Lyndhurst, Monday, November 6.
