The Hanover Park girls soccer team extended their unbeaten streak to three games with a hard fought 1-0 victory over Morristown-Beard on Tuesday.

The Hornets early season form has been impressive as two wins have now followed the 0-0 draw that started their season almost a week ago. This is a dramatic improvement over the first games of last season, which saw the girls lose three of the first four games.

The Hornet’s goal keeper, Chrissy Cosenzo, had 10 saves on the night to shut out Morris-Beard and give the girl’s their third clean sheet in as many games. The team’s defense has been a bulwark at the back so far this season and the girls have now played three games, 270 minutes, without being scored upon.

Senior Lauren Genoese was the difference maker and fired her team to victory with the match’s only goal. The assist was provided by Junior Camille Carnevale and is her second already this season.

The Hornets will look to continue their unbeaten start of the season on Thursday when they visit Parsippany at 4:00pm.
