EAST HANOVER, NJ- Wednesday did not bode well for the Hornets fall sports players as the three teams that played on the night all went without wins.
Hanover Park girls tennis lost to Morristown-Beard for the second time this year. Not only was the result repeated, but the score line remained the same, 5-0, as their defeat earlier on this year. The tennis team will hope to break their recent losing streak at home on the 23rd to Cedar Grove.
The boys soccer team traveled to Kinnelon and was defeated 1-0 when the whistle blew. The lone goal came from Kinnelon's Steven Kleckowski while Hanover Park’s Charlie Polk had six saves on the night to keep the boys at a one goal deficit. This last defeat brings the Hornets record to 2-2-1 where they will play Mountain Lakes away on Friday.
The Hanover Park girls soccer team was held to a draw in a one sided match against Kinnelon. The Hornets tried to get back on track after losing their last two outings and threw everything but the kitchen sink against a resolute Kinnelon team over the course of the 90 minutes.
The Hornets played a controlling game against Kinnelon, out shooting them two to one and receiving 10 corner kicks to Kinnelon’s one. The tie has continued a tough three games for Hanover Park that includes two one goal loses and brings their record to 3-2-1. The girls will be back in action against Mountain Lakes on Friday September 23.
