EAST HANOVER, N.J.- On May 25 and 26, The Hanover Park Girls Track Team headed to Middletown North High School to compete in the North 2 Group 2 Sectional Meet. The team, lead by head coach Bill DiMauro, has had a victorious season already, winning their conference and doing well in the Morris County Championship Meet. Winning the Section only added to their success as a team this year.

Grace Reynolds led the way for the Hornets with her stellar performances this past weekend. The sophomore placed 2nd overall in the 1600 meters (5:20.98) and 3rd in the 800 meters (2:25.61). Her 11:57.78 time in the 3200 meters earned her 2nd place overall, and broke her previously held Personal Best time of 12:05.41.

Reynolds, along with Stephanie Alessio, Victoria Boze, and Kaitlyn Gallagher, clinched 1st place in the 4x800 meter Team Relay with an impressive time of 10:17.67.

The Hornet’s young 4x100 meter relay crew, which is made up entirely of underclassmen, placed 4th overall. Kristin Alessio, Eliza Bruncaj, Kiara Cammady, and Kimora Johnson combined together for a 52.46 dash.

Freshman Kimora Johnson’s Personal Best of a 12.69 in the 100 meters lead her to 4th place, while her 26.99 run in the 200 meter placed her in 3rd.

Senior Victoria Agaliotis has been dominant in pole vaulting all season. She was yet another Hornet who recorded her Personal Best this past weekend, clearing 9’ 9. Agaliotis out-placed her opponents by well over a foot, easily clinching 1st place overall.

Meghan Macaluso broke two of her Season Best Records on Saturday with a 15-04.75 long jump (7th place overall) and a 33-02 triple jump (4th overall). Macaluso also cleared a 4’ 10 in the high jump to earn 5th place, while teammate Lani Sabeh earned 4th place after clearing 5’ 00.

Earning the title came from an all-around team effort, with the Hornets totaling 85 points on the meet. “[Winning Sectionals] was an amazing experience,” said Grace Reynolds. “We needed every girl on the team to win. It was a team effort.”

The Girls Track Team will be headed to the NJSIAA Group 2 Finals on June 1st and 2nd in Bayville, NJ, where they hope to continue the momentum they have going.
