Hanover Park Sports Prepare for a Successful Fall Season

EAST HANOVER, NJ – The new school year is in full swing, and with that comes the start of Hanover Park's fall sports season, including football, boys and girls soccer, girls volleyball, girls tennis, and boys and girls cross country.

Hanover Park’s Girls tennis team gave new Coach Sue Apicella her 1st win by defeating Boonton 4-1 on September 6th on HP's home court for the first game of the season. The Hornets were led by doubles team victories from Lizzie Gamba (10th grade)/Eileen Foerster (12th grade) and Sabrina Asral (12th grade)/Ashley Chen (9th grade). Both teams won by 6-0, 6-0. The only loss was Genna Dominguez (10th grade), in a hard-fought, 2 hour match. Genna lost the third match in a 8-6 tie-breaker. Hanover Park’s match on Wednesday, September 7th was not as successful as they fell to a strong Morristown Beard team 5-0. HP’s next match is an away game on Friday, September 9th, 4:00 p.m., vs Parsippany.

Girls volleyball Coach Megan Wilson, beginning her 10th year, is looking forward to an exciting season with a core of returning seniors: Brittany Monohan, Jordan Winter, Amanda Bermel, Melissa Zweibaum, and Vali Mattfeld. Along with the underclassmen, this should make for a very competitive team. The Hornets open at Parsippany today, September 8th, at 4 p.m.

The team's first home game will be at their new field on Friday, September 16th at 7:00 p.m. vs Central.

Hanover Park's girls soccer opens Thursday, September 8th at Parsippany Hills and plays again home on Saturday, September 10th at 12:00 p.m.

Boys soccer for the Hornets opens at Dover on September 10th at 2:00 p.m.
