EAST HANOVER, N.J.- The weather  limited Hanover Park  to only four contests last week. The girls soccer and volleyball teams recorded wins , while the tennis and football teams were handed their first losses.                                                                                                                                                                                     The girls volleyball team traveled to Morris Tech and came away with a straight set 2-0 victory (25-21 , 25-11).  Katie Piedale(8 aces, 8 assist) and Camryn Coffey(4 kills , 6 blocks) helped give  the Hornets their first season win.                                                                                              

Girls Soccer met up with Westwood , at Westwood in a re-match from last year's group 2 semi-finals and this time the Lady Hornets came out on top with a 1-0 victory. Hailey Scaff scored in the first half on an assist from Claire Cahill and freshman Abigal Hung recorded 13 saves.                                                                                                                                                                                                                    Girls Tennis visited Pequannock and dropped a 3-2 decision . Sophmore Hailee Posnock won her 1st singles match 6-2, 6-2 and the doubles team of K. Gao/L. Schiffman came away with a 7-6, 6-1 win. They will face Mt Lakes this week.                                                                                                   

The football team started their season at home vs West Essex, ( ranked 17 in N.J.) and West Essex quickly gain control by scoring 21 points in each of the first two quarters for a 42-0 halftime lead .. Will Perez and Nick Celentano each had two rushing TD's as West Essex's offense had over 300 yards of offense in the 42-14 victory. Hanover Park's Ethan Gayle scored twice on runs of 40 and 17 yds  and rushed for over 150 yards. Nick Zarra and Anthony Salvemini combined for 22 tackles for H. P. Next  game is Friday Sept. 14 at Cedar Grove 7 pm.
