EAST HANOVER, N.J.- Hanover Park Softball senior, Jessica Miller, a four year varsity softball player from Hanover Park is this week's Mary Comito State Farm Athlete of the Week.
Miller completed an outstanding career collecting over 100 hits and earning over 50 wins on the mound. This past season, saw the Lady Hornets go 25-7 and win the MCT championship for the first time in 39 years, and another North Jersey Section 2 Group 2 title. Miller won 17 games on the mound and batted .398 with 35 hits including five home runs, eight doubles and 31 rbi's. She was one of two seniors who lead the team and could be counted on to get the key hit or make the pitch to win a game. She would like to have a job as a physical therapist and her Dad and Grandfather inspired her to start playing softball. Miller's role model is Derek Jeter. She feels that 50 wins as a pitcher was great , but reaching 100 hits in her career at HP is her biggest accomplishment.
Miller watches college softball and her favorite professional team is the N.Y. Yankees. Her best pitch is her curve ball and she finished with a .366 career batting average and 12 home runs during her four years at HP.
