EAST HANOVER, N.J.- It has been a year since local Lisa Marie Latino released her first book, Ten Years Later. A year of book signings, interviews, tours, and special appearances. Latino has spoke to book clubs, high school, and packed book stores at book signings. She has been featured on podcasts, blogs, and sports websites. Along with her debut novel, she has her own production company, covers New York Giants games on NYG Radio and is a member of the Hip New Jersey Team. To honor a year well spent, we have a review of Ten Years Later.
"think of the misery I could have avoided if the scenario played out earlier! However, if I had a husband, 2.5 kids and a dog surrounded by a white picket fence like everyone else here, I would have been pissed off at all I would have missed out on. Myself"
We have all been there.
Standing at the door of your high school reunion, wishing an earthquake hit at that exact moment. Waking up slightly hung over when your mom is brighter than the morning sun. Dating your dream crush and finding out how less than fabulous they really are. Even enduring unfair treatment on the job because of your gender or not seeing true love right in front of your face. These are the days that fill up the years that make our lives.
She is the unsung hero of small town, New Jersey. She navigates the ocean of irony like Captain Ahab. She is from a small town but works for the country’s biggest radio program. She is a loyal hard worker, but gets snickered at for wanting to move up and passed over for some non-talent with a big name and no real game. She wages every woman’s war of significance, when her natural gift is to see the talent in others. Her determination equaled that of Jumbo Elliot taking the line of scrimmage, and yet, could catch the eye of everyone in the room with the grace of Jackie O.
While she wants to accomplish 10 years of life in 12 months, life hands her double the surprises.
Over brunch, at the kitchen table, in the control room, in a text message or even in the headlines, Carla catches her breath, takes action and beneath the surface of self-denial and fear, activates a heart of gold and an unstoppable spirit. She may hail from a small town, but she is a skyscraper of a woman, once she realizes all that she desires is just with in her reach.
Follow Carla’s story seeking the perfect job, the pursuit of real love and the journey of self discovery. Her story crosses generations. Author Lisa Marie Latino writes conversationally. It flows easy and is so visual, its like she is in the room with the reader, beckoning the turning of each page to the next destination. Looking forward to the movie.
