Mariners Break Record; Continue Success at Stingray Splash

MADISON, NJ - Approximately 70 members of the Madison Area Y (MAY) Mariners traveled to Raritan Bay YMCA on January 13th-15th to compete in the annual HCY Stingray Splash Invitational.  Over the three days, the team swam in relay and individual races and posted impressive results.

One of the highlights of the meet came when the relay team of Collin Faraher, Atticus Chang, Ryan Snarr and Kyle Beebe finished the Boys’ 11/12 200m Medley Relay in a time of 2:07.89, breaking the team record previously set by Chris Dart, Connor Krill, Kyle Madley and Tyler Wentz in 2004.   Second place finishes were posted by the relay team of Collin Faraher, Atticus Chang, Artha Abeysinghe and Kyle Beebe in the Boys’ 11/12 200m Freestyle Relay and the team of Declan Robertson, Anuthra Abeysinghe, Tirian Chang and Francis Jaso in the Boys’10 & under 200m Medley Relay

MAY had multiple individual swimmers finishing at the top of 2 or more races.  On the girls’ team, Ryan Sprague finished 3rd in the 200m Back and 5th in the 100m Free for the 9/10 age group, while, in the 15 &over age group, Emma Danzo finished 2nd in the 500m Free and 200m Breast and 3rd in the 400m Individual Medley.  The girls’ 8 & under group received impressive contributions from Chloe Thorn Leeson (1st place in the 200m Individual Medley & 50m Butterfly and 3rd place in the 50m Breast and 100m Individual Medley) and Madison Virella (3rd place in the 100m Free and 50m Butterfly).  In the boys’ 8 & under age group, Tirian Chang finished 2nd in the 50m Free and 5th in the 50m Breast.  The boys’ 11/12 age group saw multiple wins for Kyle Beebe (1st place in the 50m Backstroke and 50m Butterfly, 2nd place in the 200m Individual Medley and 3rd place in the 50m Free), Collin Faraher (2nd place in the 200m Breast, 3rd place in the 100m Breast and 5th place in the 200 Individual Medley), and Atticus Chang (3rd place in the 100 and 200m Individual Medleys and 4th place in the 50m and 100m Butterfly and 200m Free).
