EAST HANOVER, NJ- Senior outfielder, Jake Berger, a second year varsity player, has been one of the main contributors in the 7-3 run Hanover Park Baseball has put together so far this season. Through 10 games he is batting .414 with an OBA of .485. He also has 12 hits that have delivered 11 RBIs.
Berger was encouraged to play baseball by his Dad and started playing in Little League. Since he was 10, Berger has been on a travel team that has played in N.C., S.C., R. I., FL., and Delaware. He believes that "hard work beats talent, when talent does not work hard".
Recently Hanover Park played a night game against its sister school Whippany Park at Lurker Park. Jake and his teammates wanted to play well before the local community and he had many family members attend the contest. He responded with two hits and 4 RBIs as Hanover Park beat Whippany Park 7-1.
Being part of a team that has a lot of experience and leadership is very important to him. He and the team are looking forward to winning their conference and doing well in the MCT and State tournament games. Jake will be attending Syracuse University next fall and wants to major in Sports Management.
