Mary Comito- State Farm's Athlete of the Week: Jaclyn Larsen

EAST HANOVER, NJ- Despite several challenging seasons, Hanover Park’s Jaclyn Larsen has fought harder than ever to maintain a name for herself on the field.

“This year making first team all county was huge especially because I’ve been out multiple times throughout my three years on varsity with injuries,” Larsen said.

Last year, the soccer player missed part of the season due to a hip injury. The now senior revealed she was out an entire month this season because of a concussion.

Additionally, Larsen made second team all conference this year and scored honorable mention her junior year. Although her ability to see the field and know where to pass to has helped her, the senior discussed her lack in certainty.

“I just need to have more confidence with shooting and doing things myself because I’ve always been told I look to pass too much,” Larsen said.

As the student-athlete prepares for graduation in June, she remains unsure of where she will end up. Although Larsen received an offer to play for Johnson and Wales University in Rhode Island, she is hoping for the opportunity to attend a college in warmer weather. However, she has only received offers to play on the East Coast.

“I definitely want to be able to play, but I also want to go to a school that I know I’m going to love,” Larsen said.
