FLORHAM PARK, N.J.- - The New York Jets and M&T Bank will host more than 100 area football parents for a free Heads Up Football clinic on November 14 at the Atlantic Health Jets Training Center in Florham Park, New Jersey. The clinic will be held in conjunction with USA Football, the national governing body of the sport and the Jets’ youth football development partner.
Parents in attendance will gain instruction from USA Football Master Trainer Vinny DiGaetano, as well as Jets Legends Eric Smith and Tony Richardson. Created by USA Football, a member of the U.S. Olympic Committee, Heads Up Football advances health and safety protocols and on-field fundamentals, including:
- Proper equipment fitting
- Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) concussion recognition and response
- Sudden cardiac arrest protocols
- Heat preparedness and hydration protocols from the Korey Stringer Institute
- Shoulder tackling and blocking
Heads Up Football establishes important evidence-based practices through a comprehensive approach to teach and play the sport. The American College of Sports Medicine, the National Athletic Trainers’ Association, and the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine, among other leaders in athletics and medicine, support the education-based program.
