BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ -- TAPintoTV spoke with Rocco Petriello, General Manager of the Grain & Cane Restaurant, to learn how they have adapted to serve their customers during the pandemic and their developing plans for returning to business once New Jersey enters into a new phase of reopening.
Grain & Cane focuses on homestyle cuisine with American influences. Now that the restaurant can no longer welcome customers, they had to evolve in order to continue to serve their clientele. “The restaurant has been affected completely,” said Petriello. “We transformed into more of a take-out style establishment.”
The restaurant currently has online ordering. For pickup, you can order directly via their website or get delivery via Door Dash. Menus change frequently, and now have an emphasis on more family-friendly dinners. In addition to their prepared meals, they also offer additional products like pizza dough, cheese, meats and other grocery items that have sometimes been difficult for people to obtain elsewhere. Customers can also purchase beer, wine and liquor by the bottle, as well as to-go cocktails.
In addition to their take-out business, Grain & Cane has been getting ready for the time when regulations will ease and they will be able to reopen, which appears to be on the horizon. The pandemic has forced them to rethink all of their operations, from managing the flow of people, creating sanitation stations for servers, separating tables to provide greater distancing, offering disposable menus and utensils, all in order “to ensure we’re creating the occupancy level that is desired by everybody,” said Petriello.
Grain & Cane gets the word out about their menu and services through their social media channels on Instagram and Facebook and digital marketing through Mail Chimp and Open Table. To see Grain & Cane’s menu and order online, visit them at: www.grainandcane.com.
