EAST HANOVER, N.J.- This week East Hanover Mayor Joseph Pannullo, Superintendent Carol Grossi, Chief of police Chris Cannizzo Manager of East Hanover Public Works Marc Macaluso, and  Office of Emergency Management Chief John Centanni met with Thomas Ace Gallagher and his team to advance the planning of "One Day One School" Beautification and Safety Intiiative's upcoming campus clean up  at Hanover Park High School. This is the tenth anniversary of this nationally recognized movement to bring local officials, business owners and the community together to not only make the schools a safe beautiful environment but to allow students to take ownership and be proud of the school they attend.

The event is scheduled for Saturday October 28. Objectives in process include property inspection, work order approvals, designated work zones, and specific projects including special attention to Ralph Politi Jr's garden, for whom this and every One Day One School event is dedicated. Gallagher detailed every aspect of the day as it will unfold start to finish, keeping safety at the highest priority. While he could not attend the meeting, Florham Park Mayor Mark Taylor has stepped up to fully support 1D1S, along with  Mayor Pannullo, Superintendent Grossi and Macaluso, who worked tirelessly to ensure the means necessary to not only launch this event, but also  have supported Gallagher's efforts from the start. It is a full community effort from parking and road safety needs, which Chief Cannizzo was more than willing to provide, down to the detailed blue prints which all in attendance approved.

The heart of this event is the volunteer corps. Families and students coming out for a day of community service along with donations from local businesses make this day extraordinary. Tents, music and food are generously donated but more is needed. Tell your friends, your sports teams and your family to come out for a memorable event that will leave a lasting legacy in the community. If you are or know a business owner who is interested in supporting One Day One School please contact Ace Gallagher acegallagher@gmail.com.
