EAST HANOVER, NJ - East Hanover's Police Chief has issued the following special public service announcement reporting on the damage from yesterday’s storm:

East Hanover has experienced significant damage from the storm including many wires down, trees down and damaged electrical transformers. We are asking for your patience as we continue the cleanup of debris. Also,regarding restoration of electricity, understand we are as frustrated as you are however JCP&L is telling us 2-7 days before power may be restored. Please plan accordingly.

Our cooling and charging station has been activated and is currently open. The cooling and charging station is located at the East Hanover Recreation Center at Lurker Park off Eagle Rock avenue on Fifth Street. The center ‘s hours are 8:30 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. and will continue until further notice. The cooling/charging center will be limited to 25 people at a time due to the Covid-19 rules set by the State of New Jersey. Social distancing and masks must be worn. Please remember if you are using a generator make sure it is outside in an open and vented area.
