EAST HANOVER, NJ- Hanover Park's baseball team, coached by Doug Wear, went 19-7 in 2017 and was the conference champion in the NJAC-LIBERTY division with an undefeated 10-0 record.

Coach Wear's senior dominated team started slowly, losing their opener and was 5-3 as of April 19th, but went 14-4 the rest of the season. The team was led by a trio of senior pitchers who went 17-5 with all three pitchers having earned averages of under 2.00.

The offense chipped in with a team batting average of .301 and scored 140 runs on the year. The main contributors for the offense were senior shortstop Michael Christadore, who had 37 hits, scored 22 runs and batted .411, senior Donato Casolaro, who hit three home runs and drove in 15 runs while collecting 32 hits and a .352 batting average, and senior Derek Saul who drove in 20 runs to lead the team on 21 hits and finished with an average of .344. The fourth senior to play a key role for the Hornets was Bailey Dominguez who collected 28 hits and batted .346, but he was also part of the pitching staff and recorded four wins in five decisions.

Casolaro was very successful on the mound and had a record of 5-2 with 51 K's in 53 innings. He pitched a one-hitter in their state tournament win over Leonia. The third senior pitcher was Joey Jandoli, who also had a one-hitter in state play against rival Madison. Jandoli struck out 54 batters and lead the team with eight wins.

The team advanced to the semi-final round of the North Jersey Section 2 Group 2 tournament but loss a heartbreaking extra inning game 6-5 to Rutherford.
