EAST HANOVER, NJ- East Hanover N.J.: The Hanover Park Lady Hornets’ soccer season may seem to have been average with a 10-9-3 record, but Head Coach Erin Shane's squad was noticed as one of the better teams in Morris County.

Fourteen games were decided by only one goal and they never allowed more than three goals in any game. Their conference, NJAC-Liberty, was one of the strongest in the state and had four teams qualify for the state tournament. Hanover Park made it to the North Jersey Section 2 Group to finals, but lost to conference rival, Parsippany, 1-0. They had beaten Caldwell and Lynshurst by the same 2-1 scoreline to reach the finals.

The team had a mixture of seniors and underclassmen that Coach Shane could rely on to give 100% every game. Sophomore, Alyssa Viegas, led the team with 11 goals and Claire Cahill added eight more. The midfield was handled by senior, Jackie Larsen, and junior, Gabby Barquin, who had a team leading 13 assists. Goalkeeper junior Chrissy Cosenzo was outstanding in goal and recorded 163 saves during the season.

Four other senior's Lauren Genoese, Amanda Hoberman, Kelly Lehman and Gia Maffuci concluded their careers with Hanover Park, but with the players who are returning next season, the outlook for the Lady Hornets is very bright.
