SHORT HILLS, NJ - Rocky Marciano, Jr., the son of late boxing legend Rocky Marciano introduced his father's namesake wine at the PAR440 Restaurant and Lounge Thursday evening.  With vintage footage of Marciano's fights playing on the big screens, attendees enjoyed passed hors-d'oeuvres while sipping the premiering red vintage.

The wine was created in partnership with Cantina Ripa Teatina, a winery in Abruzzo, Italy where the Marciano family has deep roots to this day. Marciano, Jr. described the driving force behind the wine, "I wanted to make a wine that presented my father the best way, I thought, which was a great wine, but it was accessible to everybody, an approachable type wine." Marciano, Jr. continued discussing what clients can expect. "The flavors when you first taste it is you get some ripe red fruit, you get some notes of vanilla and spices like a pepper and then it has a nice balanced dry finished."

Mario LaVecchia, owner of PAR440 commented, "it’s a great wine – smooth, unpretentious, the same way that Rocky was.”

The wine was created in partnership with Cantina RipaTeatina a winery in Abruzzo, Italy.  “As an undefeated world champion, my father was committed to excellence. Coming together with the Cantina RipaTeatina to create a wine to honor this commitment has been an amazing experience and I am very proud of this wine,” Marciano Jr. concludes.

The Rocky Marciano Montepulciano d’ Abruzzo has a deep ruby red color. It is a wide wine, very rich and harmonic.  It is very well balanced with a persistent finish and good structure. The grapes, grown on Abruzzian trellis, were hand selected and handpicked from vineyards between 130 – 300m above sea level.

THE ESTATE OF ROCKY MARCIANO endeavors to promote the legacy and to educate new generations on the life and accomplishments of Rocky Marciano.  Against many odds, and due to his indomitable character and spirit, Rocky Marciano rose to be World Heavyweight Champion, retiring with a stunning record of 49 wins and no defeats. Rocky Marciano’s son Rocky Marciano Jr. is the holder of the Estate.
