The Madison Area YMCA Rosettes Make the Y Proud at the YMCA National Gymnastics Championships

The Madison Area YMCA Rosettes gymnastics team did an outstanding job at the YMCA National Gymnastics Championships. The Level 9 team placed 7th, the Level 8 team placed 3rd, the Level 7 team placed 2nd and the Level 6 team placed 5th. Additionally, eight Level 8 Rosettes made it to the finals and all Rosettes from the Level 9 team made it to the finals.

 

“I couldn’t be prouder of the girls,” said Madison Area YMCA Gymnastics Director Ellen Gavin. “They worked hard and performed excellent routines. The girls’ respect, sportsmanship, spirit and support for one another are a testament to what our program is all about.”

 

Seventy-three Madison Area YMCA’s Rosettes, 7 to 18 years old, competed along with 2,000 gymnasts from 100 YMCAs across the country at the 2017 YMCA National Gymnastics Championships at the Savannah International Trade & Convention Center.

For 17 years, the Madison Area YMCA Rosettes have ranked in the top 10 YMCA gymnastics teams in the country. The Rosette’s demonstration of skill, poise, spirit, teamwork and sportsmanship continues to be what sets the Madison Area YMCA gymnastics program apart from other programs in the area. The team practices team unity and determination and highly regards the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Building character, confidence and self-esteem are part of the rich gymnastics experience at the Madison Area YMCA.

 

The gymnastics department has openings in its Summer Gymnastics Mini Clinics and Y Ninja Clinics during August. The four-day clinics are Monday through Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Please see www.madisonareaymca.org for more details.
