EAST HANOVER, N.J.-  Hanover Park hornets, the # 7 pre-season ranked team in N.J. opened regular season with wins over Morris Catholic and # 17 ranked Kittatinny. Hanover Park earned pins from Dominic Mancini, Jake Bursese, Justin Everland and Gianluca Birnbaum in a 60-3 victory over Morris Catholic and followed that up with a 40-29 victory over Kittatinny. The Hornets out scored Kittatinny 25-6 in the lower weight classes with Jake Bursese. Dom DiFrancescantonio and  Nick Raimo earning pins. Matthew Liberato and Nick Zarra also recorded pins.                                                                                                         Boys and Girls basketball both split  two to contest last week. The boys beat Dover 65-53 as they opened a 29-19 halftime lead led by Michael Boeckel 26 pts and six assists and Alex Malofienko who chipped in 23 points including three three pointers. Next up was Morristown Beard against whom the Hornets lost a hard fought contest 69-67. HP led at halftime 33-28 but MB used a 21-13 advantage in the third quarter and held on for the victory. Hanover Parks season record stands at 3-1. The girls also beat Dover 60-22 as Kelsey Stites scored 17pts with Megan Macaluso pulling down eight rebounds and six points. The Lady Hornets had 11 players score and 12 record rebounds in the game. The girls team also lost by two points to MB 52-50. Macaluso had 18 pts and 10 rebounds and Stites tallied 16 points , but MB outscored HP 19-8 in the final qtr and there season record fell to 2-1.                                                                                                                                                                                                                    Girls Swimming evened it's record to 2-2 with a win over Parsippany Hills as they were led by Kelly Pierson who won the 200 and 500 Freestyle races. Sarah Bernstein also earned victories in the 100 freestyle and 100 Backstroke. Megan Headley won the 50 freestyle and was part of the winning 200 med relay and 400 freestyle relay races. Boys swimming loss to Parsippany Hills 103-65, but did have Nolan Danus earn wins in the 200 IM and 100 freestyle races. Jon Kao also earned points for HP in his victory in the 500 freestyle.
