NEW JERSEY, The  New Jersey State Department of Environmental Protection released an advisory Tuesday, closing three beaches and placing 31 under advisory for unacceptable levels of enterococcus.

Beaches along Toms River, Beachwood Beach West in Beachwood, Summit Beach in Island Heights, and West Beach in Pine Beach, were closed Tuesday.

The heavy rains and storm runoff associated with storms, create a susceptibility to higher levels of bacteria. For more information on beach closures and those affected with advisories visit DEP website
