SOMERSET, NJ - A two-year-old boy was struck and killed by a pick-up truck backing up in a driveway early Saturday according to police.
An investigation was announced by Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson and Franklin Township Public Safety Director Quovella.
Franklin Police received a 911 call at 8:46 a.m. reporting that a two-year-old had been struck by a truck at a residence on Bennetts Lane, according to Capt. Phil Rizzo. "The initial investigation revealed that a 60-year-old Somerset man was backing his pick-up truck to leave the residence when the two-year-old was struck on the property."
Police initiated life-saving measures until EMS personal arrived; police say the child was transported to a local area trauma center where he was pronounced dead from his injuries.
